Drippy Days Ahead!

October 13, 2009 - Leave a Response
Showers on the increase today.  Grab the umbrella because you might not need it in the morning — but coming home from work, you will!  Rain is expected to be around the metro by 3 PM and lasting through tonight.  No heavy rain is expected, so flooding is not a concern.

Cloudy with rain around tonight with lows in the lower 40’s.  Temperatures won’t change much through Friday due to the cloud cover and no change in air mass.  A few leftover showers early Wednesday then clouds will remain before another chance of showers by evening.  The high will be 49°.

Showers depart early Thursday at 48°.  Partly cloudy to mostly sunny Friday through next Monday.  By the end of the weekend, the breeze will pick up.  And that’s a good thing because it means warmer temperatures!  Sunday will be 63° with 68° on Monday.  Rain returns on Tuesday at 64°.

One Slow Warm-Up Of A Week

October 12, 2009 - Leave a Response
Temperatures are not expected to be as cold for the rest of the week.  It will be a slow warm-up, though!

A round of light showers moved through overnight — these continue to move out this morning.  Overall, it will be a mostly cloudy and chilly day.  Highs will only reach 50°.  Tonight, temperatures will fall into the upper 30’s.  Then on Tuesday, clouds will thicken with a chance for showers by the evening rush.  The high will be slightly cooler at 49°.

Light rain is possible through Wednesday and early Thursday.  Temperatures won’t get cold enough to support snow.  Highs will be in the lower 50’s and lows will be in the upper 30’s to lower 40’s.

Improving conditions by the end of the work week.  Sunshine from Friday through next weekend.  The breeze will pick up Saturday and Sunday.  Highs by Sunday will be near the norm at 63°.

Have a great day!

No Hard Freeze Yet

October 11, 2009 - Leave a Response
We didn’t get the hard freeze this morning.  Temperatures stayed in the middle 30s due to cloud cover.  Pumpkins will remain plump and ready for the picking – not being affected by such cold temperatures.  However, allergy sufferers will have to wait a little longer before everything is killed off.  We’ll have mainly cloudy skies today with highs in the upper 40s.  Wind chill will make it feel like the upper 30s.

Rain showers will be possible along and North of I-70 after 5 PM Sunday.  Showers will continue to be spotty and move North of KC overnight.  Lows tonight won’t be as cold around 40°.  Then on Monday, showers will be over with by the AM rush with clouds slowly decreasing.  The high will be 53°.

The next storm system has been pushed up a day…it’s coming at us a little faster.  Right now the rain looks light both Tuesday and Wednesday.  Elements may not come together at all for a heavy rain event anywhere within a 200 mile radius of KC.  Temperatures by Wednesday will be 61°.  Slightly cooler air – 50s for highs and 30s and 40s for lows – expected from Thursday through Sunday.  Next weekend looks dry.

Have a great one!

Snow’s On Radar!

October 10, 2009 - Leave a Response
Clouds will build this morning.  Snow showers will be possible North of 36 Highway, but no accumulation is expected.  Kansas City might see a few flurries at most.  Mostly cloudy and cold at 48°.  Be sure to visit KMBC.com for the latest look at our Interactive Radar.

Freeze warnings are up for the metro tonight as lows will fall into the 20s.  Then on Sunday, another system moves closer and could produce some rain showers in NE Kansas and NW Missouri by evening.  Kansas City might see a few sprinkles.  The high will be around 49°.

A sprinkle or two on Monday with mostly to partly cloudy skies.  The high will remain in the upper 40s.

Partly cloudy on Tuesday and warmer at 54°.  Rain expected Wednesday through Thursday…and some of this rain could be heavy by Thursday evening.  Highs will be in the 50s and 60s.  Slightly cooler into next weekend, but dry, in the upper 50s.

Have a great one!

Take care,
Lisa

Saturday Snowflakes???

October 9, 2009 - Leave a Response
Spotty areas of showers and mist this morning.  By midday, some slivers of sun will shine, especially on the Kansas side.  One cool day at 52°.

Tonight temperatures will fall into the middle 30s before the Arctic front arrives on Saturday.  This front will have some moisture to work with and produce some showers and snowflakes by 8 AM in NE Kansas and NW Missouri.  No accumulation is expected.  This band of precip may fall apart before it reaches Kansas City.  Saturday’s high will struggle to get out of the 40s.

Most of Sunday will be dry — but another front slides through which could produce a brief shower or even a few flakes.  Sunday’s high will be rather brisk at 43°.  Sunday night and Monday morning — if we can clear out, temperatures will fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s.  This could be our first freeze.

Temperatures try to warm up throughout the work week.  Sixties return on Wednesday with a brief shower.  Some places might get heavy rains by Friday.

Have a great day!

Take care,
Lisa

Clouds VS. Sunshine On Sunday

October 4, 2009 - Leave a Response
Clouds will battle the sunshine today.  More clouds — means it will feel cooler outside.  Highs this afternoon will be in the upper 60s.  There’s a slim shot for a few sprinkles later today - but this shouldn’t be much of a problem for all drivers racing in NASCAR early this afternoon nor fans leaving Kansas Speedway after the race.

The breeze picks up on Monday with a chance for showers by the evening rush.  The high will be in the upper 60s once again.

Best chance for rain this week will be on Tuesday followed by a chance on Thursday.  Highs this week will be in the middle 60s and overnight lows mainly in the 40s.  Temperatures will cool down even more headed into next weekend.  Some spots closer to Kansas City could get some patchy frost by Saturday morning.

Have a great one

Races Fans…Get Your Motors Ready!

October 3, 2009 - Leave a Response
Cool and breezy for your Saturday — a little warmer with lighter winds on Sunday.  With so many outdoor activities across the metro, we’ll have pleasant weather for all!

Highs for Saturday under a partly cloudy sky will be 64°.  Temperatures tonight fall into the middle 40s.  Then on Sunday, clouds will increase and there’s a slim shower risk by 9 PM.  NASCAR races in the afternoon should be just fine.  Temperatures will warm to 67°.

A southern track storm system is on tap for Monday and Tuesday.  Doesn’t look like we’ll get a lot of moisture with this system.  Showers — possibly a few thunderstorms — are likely.  Temperatures for highs will stay in the middle 60s with lows in the 40s and 50s.

Temperatures try to warm toward the end of the work week in the upper 60s.  Limited shower chance Thursday night and Friday morning.

Have a great weekend!

You Are Going To Love Today!

September 27, 2009 - Leave a Response
Full sunshine for your Sunday and a brief visit from summer.  Highs this afternoon will be in the upper 70’s to middle 80’s.  However, a cold front will slide through tonight and it will be chilly near 52°.

Fall returns quickly to the area on Monday with highs in the upper 60’s.  Since this cold front won’t have any moisture with it, we’ll keep the sunshine around Monday through most of Wednesday.  Temperatures will warm slightly to the middle 70’s by Wednesday as the breeze picks up.

A very strong storm system is still set to arrive on Thursday.  Depending on how soon the storms arrive, we could see some reach severe limits.  We’ll have to get closer to see how this will pan out — but, this will be the next chance for rain this week.  Some showers will be leftover on Friday morning with highs falling into the 60’s with lows in the 40’s.

Enjoy the great weather today!

Take care,
Lisa

A Few Showers Will Remain

September 26, 2009 - Leave a Response
Heavy rains have left the metro.  Spotty showers will still be possible through lunch today.  Temperatures will feel cool at 73°.

Partly cloudy and cool tonight with lows in the middle 50s.  Then on Sunday, summer’s back!  We’ll have plenty of sunshine with temperatures soaring back into the lower 80s.

Mostly sunny both Monday and Tuesday with temperatures taking a tumble!  Although a cold front will arrive on Monday, it won’t have any moisture to work with…but it will usher in a return to fallish weather.  Highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the lower 70s with lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

The breeze picks up on Wednesday with clouds returning late in the day — expect middle 70s for highs.  A strong storm system arrives on Thursday and will produce a round of storms.  Temperatures will then drop through the weekend with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Have a great one!

It’s Football Time!

September 20, 2009 - Leave a Response
Sprinkles around today — especially on the Missouri side.  No heavy rounds of rain expected today at Arrowhead.  More clouds than sunshine with highs in the upper 70s.  Tonight will be quiet with clouds and lows in the 60s.

Then on Monday, a cold front is on the move.  Some showers may pop up in NE Kansas and NW Missouri by lunch.  However, the heavier rounds of rain and potentially severe storms are set to move into the metro between 3 PM and 7 PM.  Large hail and damaging winds will be possible with any of these storms.  Sunshine will be rather limited on Monday…so, this could be a good thing in keeping the severity of the storms low.  However, if we do get some slivers, then the storms could easily become stronger and form a squall line.  This would put us in the line of damaging winds with these storms.  In terms of location of these severe storms…I’d peg it from the metro to Wichita.  Monday’s high will be 77°.

Some showers may be leftover on Tuesday.  Highs will stay cooler for the rest of the work week in the lower to mid-70s.  Next chance for rain arrives on Saturday.

Have a great week!

Take care,
Lisa
